๐ต๐ญ Bohol.
Six of us, five nights, one island. We land in Panglao late on a Friday and give ourselves the time to do Bohol properly: scooters around Panglao, a van through the countryside to the Chocolate Hills and the tarsiers, then the long road east to Anda's hidden cave pools. This is the real working plan we're booking from. Once we've gone, it turns into a guide you can copy.

The day's routeOpen the full route in Google Maps โ- The flight home is 9:00 PM (5J 622, Panglao to Manila), so the whole day is free. Be at the airport by about 7:00 PM. The airport is right on Panglao, so the last ride is short.
- Suggested day, easy to trim if we're tired from the east.
Ideas we might add.
The spots themselves now live in the day-by-day above. These are the extras: where to sleep on a budget, how to get around, and a few things worth knowing. Prices are approximate, so confirm on the ground.
Where to sleep, cheap
Budget bases for each leg. For six of us, booking out a whole dorm room or a whole house usually beats three doubles.
- The Village Panglao~โฑ375/bed
Top-rated hostel near Alona. Book out a 6-bed dorm. Our pick for nights 0 to 2.
Source - Nautilus Hostel & Hammocks~โฑ450/room
Three private doubles run about โฑ1,350 a night total, well located in Panglao.
Source - Farm House in CorellaWhole house
A whole two-bedroom villa with a pool, a six-minute walk from the Tarsier Sanctuary. Best fit for a night 2 near the tarsiers.
Source - Andresas Homestay (Loboc)~โฑ850/night
If Corella is full, Loboc is about 20 minutes away and cheaper. The cheapest inland find.
Source - Cabagnow Homestay (Anda)~โฑ1,700/night
Well-rated Anda homestay near the cave pool for night 3.

Scooter or van? Our call
Short version: scooters for the Panglao day, a van with driver for the two long days.
- Scooters for Day 1~โฑ350 to 600/day each
Automatic 125s are perfect for Panglao's short hops. Six of us means three bikes. Each driver needs a motorcycle licence or an IDP, and everyone needs a helmet by law.
Source - Van with driver for Day 2~โฑ4,500/day
One air-conditioned van seats all six, with the driver doubling as a guide who knows the loop. The countryside package usually bundles fuel and driver.
Source - Van for the Anda day (Day 3)~โฑ4,000 to 5,500
Anda is about three hours each way, so a van or hired car beats scooters here for comfort and safety on the long haul.
Source - The verdictOur plan
For a group of six, scooters only really pay off on Day 1. Days 2 and 3 are long-distance, so the van wins on cost-per-head, comfort, and not getting lost.
Good to know
- Cabagnow closes Mon & FriImportant
The cave pool is shut Mondays and Fridays for preservation, and our Day 3 (Aug 3) is a Monday. We'll likely swap the day or hit Combento and Canlawan instead.
Source - Airport to Panglao is short~โฑ200 to 800
The airport is already on Panglao, so it's a quick ride to the Alona area by taxi, Grab, or a booked van.
Source - Ride apps have cars nowFor 6 of us
Grab reached Bohol (Tagbilaran, Dauis, Panglao) in late 2024, and Grab, JoyRide, Angkas, and Move It all do car bookings now, not just motorbikes. Handy for the airport run and short Panglao hops, even a 6-seater when one's free. The fleet is still thin for big cars out here, so keep a van booked for the long countryside and Anda days. Maxim is a solid backup.
Source - Do Chocolate Hills firstRoute tip
On the countryside day, drive straight to the Chocolate Hills early, then work back through the man-made forest, tarsiers, and the Loboc lunch cruise. It beats the tour-bus crowds and the midday haze, and saves backtracking since the hills are the farthest stop.
Source - We're overnighting in AndaTip
Anda is about three hours each way, so we're sleeping there rather than rushing a day trip. Book the Anda place early; August is low season but the good homestays still fill.
