September 4 to 8, 2026 (Fri to Tue)

Puerto Galera.

Two of us, four nights, a different bed each night. We landed at Balatero on a Friday afternoon and worked our way around the coast: town and Muelle Bay first, then Aninuan and White Beach for the nightlife, Talipanan for the quiet side, and Sabang last so the noon boat home on Tuesday was a short tricycle away. Cheapest rated bed each night, one real activity a day. Here's the plan we followed and the budget behind it, so you can copy it.

Before you go

The boat is the whole trip. Galerian's fast boat leaves Batangas Port at 2:30 PM and check-in closes an hour before, so leave Cavite by 11:00 AM by car (CALAX to SLEX to STAR Tollway, Batangas Port exit, about 2 hours) or by 9:00 AM if commuting through PITX.

  1. 1.Register on PG-Pass (registration.amazingpuertogalera.com) before boarding. The QR is scanned at Balatero and the ₱120 environmental fee is paid there.
  2. 2.Buy the return ticket at the Balatero counters the moment you land. The Montenegro fastcraft at 12:00 NN is the one to aim for; Island Water at 3:00 PM is the fallback.
  3. 3.Book Riverside at Aninuan ahead for the White Beach night. It is the best-rated and cheapest of the four stays and fills on weekends.
  4. 4.Confirm every room rate is per room, not per person, before paying. Hostel sites list some privates per head.

Early September is habagat season. If the Coast Guard suspends trips, the fastcraft goes first and the RORO usually still runs. Keep the hotlines below handy.

The itinerary

Day by day.

  1. Day 1

    Fri, Sep 4, 2026

Cavite to Batangas, the 2:30 boat, then town

Batangas Port, then Poblacion and Muelle Bay

Getting around · Car or Grab to the port, Galerian fast boat, tricycle

Stay · V Hostel Galera, Santo Niño (private from ~₱425), or Bahay Isla Inn (~₱750)

    1. Leave General Trias by 11:00 AMTolls ~₱400

      General Trias, Cavite

CALAX to SLEX southbound to STAR Tollway, then the Batangas Port exit. About 2 hours door to door. If commuting instead: bus to PITX, then any DLTB, JAM, or Alps bus marked Batangas Pier (₱190 to 270, 2.5 hours). That path needs a 9:00 AM start.

      ~ 2 hrs · ~110 km
    2. Batangas Port passenger terminalTerminal fee ₱90/head

Batangas Port, Diversion Road, Batangas City

Pay the terminal fee, then the Galerian counter with the 12go voucher and IDs. Check-in closes 1:30 PM, one hour before departure. Go straight to the counters, skip anyone offering tickets outside.

      On site · same terminal
    3. Galerian fast boat to Balatero~₱650/head

Batangas Port to Balatero Port, Puerto Galera

2:30 PM departure, 3:15 PM arrival. 25 kg baggage each. Sit on the open side for the Verde Island crossing.

      45 min · boat
    4. Balatero Port: PG-Pass and return tickets₱120/head env fee

Balatero Port Rd, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Scan the PG-Pass QR and pay the environmental fee. Then buy the return ticket at the Montenegro window (12:00 NN fastcraft) while you are standing right there.

      ~ 10 min · 3 km
    5. Tricycle to Santo Niño, check in~₱100 to 150

Brgy. Santo Niño, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

V Hostel Galera is the cheapest private in town on Hostelworld (~₱425, has a pool). If it is full or the rate turns out per head, Bahay Isla Inn near the plaza is ~₱750 and rated 9.5.

      ~ 5 min · 1 km
    6. Muelle Cultural Heritage ParkFree

Muelle Bay, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

The galleon replica and the cannon on the bay. Best light is the last hour before sunset. This is also where tomorrow's boat leaves from, so ask the boatmen for a two-person snorkel price tonight.

      ~ 5 min · walk
    7. Dinner in town~₱200/head

Puerto Galera Public Market, Poblacion, Puerto Galera

Carinderias around the market and the plaza are the cheapest meals of the whole trip. Draw cash at the Poblacion ATMs tonight; the beaches are cash-only and machines are scarce.

    • Check-in is one hour before the 2:30 PM boat. Treat 1:30 PM as the hard cutoff at the Galerian counter.
    • Tricycle from Balatero to town is short. Balatero to White Beach is ₱150 to 200 and to Sabang is ₱300 to 400, so sleeping in town tonight keeps the first transfer cheap.

Muelle Bay, then Aninuan and White Beach

Getting around · Small boat from Muelle Bay, tricycle west

Stay · Riverside at Aninuan (private ~₱400, breakfast included, rated 10/10)

    1. Muelle Bay boat station~₱1,000 to 1,200 for two

Muelle Pier, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

The posted rate is ₱1,800 for a boat of six. With two of us, either join a group forming at the pier or haggle a small boat down. Morning is calmer. ₱20 terminal fee.

      ~ 20 min · boat

      ~ 10 min · boat
    3. Giant Clams Sanctuary₱200/head

      Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Paid separately to the sanctuary, and a smaller paddle boat takes us the last stretch. The best thing in the water here.

      ~ 15 min · boat
    4. Haligi Beach or Long BeachIn the boat rate

Haligi Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Beach stop for a swim and a packed lunch. Tell the boatman we want to be back by 1:00 PM.

      ~ 50 min · boat back, then 7 km

House 3, Aninuan Road, Brgy. Aninuan, Puerto Galera

Riverside is a six-room family B&B a four-minute walk from Aninuan Beach. Check-in from 2:00 PM, breakfast included. Cheapest rated private on the island.

      ~ 5 min · walk
    6. Aninuan BeachFree

Aninuan Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Quieter sand next door to White Beach. Afternoon swim and a nap.

~ 15 min · walk along the sand
    7. White Beach sunset and fire dancers~₱300/head

White Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Walk east along the sand. Sunset, then the fire dancers after dark. One Mindoro Sling each and dinner at a beachfront grill. Haggle here; White Beach is cheaper than Sabang.

    • Boat prices are quoted per boat, so two people pay the most per head. Joining a group at Muelle in the morning is the real saving.
    • Leave the bags at the hostel in town in the morning and pick them up on the way west, or bring them to the pier and the boatman will hold them.

    What we'll spend

Boat, snorkel and island hop (two of us)

    Sun, Sep 6, 2026

Talipanan, the Mangyan village, and the quiet side

    Talipanan, then White Beach

Getting around · Tricycle, then on foot

Stay · Ricco's Lodging House, Bakawan St, White Beach (walk in for the rate)

    1. Tricycle to Talipanan~₱100 to 150

Talipanan Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Westernmost beach, past Aninuan. Ask to be dropped where the paved road ends.

      ~ 5 min · walk
    2. Iraya-Mangyan VillageFree, tip

      Talipanan, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Open 8 AM to 5 PM. Watch the nito-vine weaving and buy a small basket straight from the maker. Best pasalubong on the island, and the money stays here.

      ~ 20 min · trail
    3. Talipanan FallsFree or a small fee

      Talipanan, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

A short, rough trail from the village. Smaller than Tamaraw but no crowd. Aqua shoes help.

      ~ 20 min · trail back
    4. Lunch on Talipanan Beach~₱200/head

Talipanan Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Grilled fish at a beachfront kubo, then swim. Pebbly in stretches, so pick a sandy patch.

      ~ 15 min · 4 km
    5. Back to White Beach, check inBunk or fan room

Bakawan St, White Beach, Puerto Galera

Ricco's is the budget lodging on the main lane behind the beach, air-conditioned bunks for walk-ins. Ask the rate on arrival; if it is above ₱900 for the two of us, try the guesthouses two doors down.

      ~ 2 min · walk
    6. White Beach afternoonFree

White Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Swim, then a paddleboard if the water is flat. Skip the jet ski and parasailing unless we want to blow the whole day's budget in 15 minutes.

      Same beach · after dark
    7. Sunday night on the strip~₱300/head

White Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Live bands and videoke. Cheaper than last night if we eat at the market-side stalls at the west end first.

    • Sunday is the busiest White Beach night of the week for Manila weekenders. Book Ricco's by message on Saturday if we can, or walk in before noon.
    • The Mangyan village closes at 5 PM. Do it in the morning, not after the beach.

    What we'll spend

    Tricycles (two hops)
    ~₱150/head
    Lunch at Talipanan
    ~₱200/head
    Ricco's Lodging House

    1. Charter a tricycle for the loop~₱1,000 to 1,500

White Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

      ~ 25 min · 12 km
    3. Tamaraw Falls₱30 to 50/head

Brgy. Villaflor, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

The tall Y-shaped falls right on the Calapan road. Pools at the base for a dip. Go before noon so we are not fighting the day-trip vans.

      ~ 40 min · 20 km
    4. Sabang, check in at Blue Lagoon~₱800 private

Small La Laguna, Sabang, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Cheapest private near Sabang on Hostelworld. Small La Laguna is the calmer cove just east of the Sabang strip.

      ~ 5 min · walk
    5. Snorkel off Small La LagunaFree from shore

Small La Laguna, Sabang, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

    6. Sabang bar street~₱400/head

      Sabang, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Everything is a minute's walk apart. Pricier than White Beach, so eat first at the roadside stalls and keep it to a couple of drinks.

Suggestions

Ideas we might add.

The plan above is the working order. These are the swaps and extras if the weather or the mood changes, and the things to know before we leave the house.

If we want more

Each of these replaces an afternoon, not a whole day.

  • Tukuran Falls, San Teodoro₱100 entrance, ₱550 cart

Cliff jumps and a carabao-cart ride up the river. About an hour east of Sabang by tricycle, so it needs a full afternoon.

    Source
  • Discover Scuba in SabangFrom ~$34 a dive

Sabang is one of the country's dive capitals. A one-dive intro with a shop on the strip is the cheapest first dive we will ever find.

  • Aplayang MuntiFree

A small cove on the Muelle side that the land tours stop at. Ten minutes from the pier.

  • Heart Beach and BucanaIn the boat rate

Add these to Saturday's boat if the group boat is already going that way.

Good to know

  • Habagat seasonWeather

Early September is the tail of the southwest monsoon. Fastcraft trips get suspended by the Coast Guard first; the RORO usually still sails. Check the operator pages the night before each crossing.

  • Cash only, almost everywhereCash

ATMs are in Poblacion and thin out fast. Draw enough on Friday night for the boats, rooms, and tricycles.

  • Tricycle prices scale with fuelTransport

Fares are set by ordinance and move with the pump price. Ask the posted rate at the port before haggling.

  • Jeepneys are ₱20Transport

From Muelle, public jeeps run to White Beach and Sabang for about ₱20. Slower than a tricycle but a fraction of the price if we are not carrying much.

  • Signal is weak on the beachesConnectivity

Download the maps and this page offline before leaving Batangas.

  • Two people pay boat rates per boatBoats

Every boat price here is per hull, so joining a group at the pier is how a duo keeps the island hop cheap.
